    you need a door closer

take the thing loose and twist it by hand to loosen or tighten……..

turn the screw more. That shock absorber does do what you want it to. You may just have to turn the screw harder than you presently are doing.

I would exchange it for another one

First you do not say if this is a wooden or alum. door. (2) is your closer a numatic or just a spring. So I am gong to assume a numatic closer which will work on both doors. 1. undo the closer from the door and allow it to retract fully. 2. take the bracket that goes onto the end of the closer and put it on the closer. 3. shut the door all the way 4. now hold the bracket on the end of the closer against the door. most of the time that is at the top of the door but some intallers put them in the middle and I have even seen them on the bottom. 5. check to see of the holes line up on the door. If they do not you may need to drill new holes where the closer bracket meets the door when full closed. Allso make sure the closer bracket on the door jam is as close to the door as you can get it. Lastley if you paid to have this proffessionaly installed ask them to come back and correct the problem if they are a reputable company they shoud not have a problem with quality workmanship.
